As a tech based non-governmental organisation empowering marginalized and rural poor youths in hard-to-reach areas of Nigeria, our organisation (iYouth Resource Centre) was nominated and invited to participate in a 2-day stake holder consultation workshop by the Nigeria DID4D Project at REIZ Continental Hotel, Abuja. the Nigeria Digital Identification for Development (DID4D) Project is being implemented by the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) in partnership with The World Bank, European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Agence Française de Development (AFD) with the aim of increasing the number of persons with a digital national identification number (NIN), issued by a robust and inclusive foundational ID system, which will facilitate access to services, improve service delivery and bolster Nigeria’s digital economy. As part of our contribution during the break out group session, our representative Osazee Isonarae emphasized the need for more communication and technological infrastructure to be put in place to ease the process of registering Nigerians for a National Identity Number (NIN) and leveraging on existing public and private organisational systems such as the BVAS innovation by INEC to defeat the barriers of getting people from rural poor and hard to reach areas to register for a digital identity. The program also afforded us the opportunity to network with other CSOs across the country for more partnership in technology literacy and other developmental works. #technology #development
